Do You Remember Who You Are?

Do you remember who you are?

Do you remember what is important in your journey on this earth?

Our memory is one of the most important treasures we have in our human incarnation. How we choose to use this and cultivate this determines how our Prarabdha Karma may unfold.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and the Amnaya-Sutra discusses this concept in depth. Thakura in his “Sri Bhajana-Rahasya” mentions that among four kinds of Bhrama or illusion, jiva-svarupa-bhrama is first.

Jiva-Svarupa-Bhrama is when the jiva forgets his / her true identity as a small transcendental particle and the eternal servant of Sri Krsna. The jiva is unable to remember his / her own transcendental form due to avidya. He / She has forgotten the most important fact of life. As a result, life becomes a Mirage.

We fill our mind with so many trivial details and live our lives guided by fear: fear of death, fear of suffering, fear of sickness, fear of being unpopular. All of these fears and mundane details cloud our cosmic memory and keep us locked into unending cycles of delusions, life is lived safely, but within a Mirage.

Take some time to clear out the clouds of memory and remember your true identity.
